A Trailblazing Career Spanning Nearly Three Decades

Tiffany D. Green has dedicated more than 29 years of distinguished service to fire and emergency operations in Prince George’s County. Her journey, which began as a volunteer firefighter at the Oxon Hill Volunteer Fire Department, evolved into a historic career marked by groundbreaking achievements. Tiffany became the County’s thirteenth Fire Chief, as well as its first female and first paramedic Fire Chief, holding every rank within the Department over the course of her career.

Educational Achievements & Professional Credentials

Tiffany’s academic foundation reflects her commitment to excellence and community safety. She is also formally recognized as a Chief Fire Officer (CFO) by the Commission on Professional Credentialing—one of the highest distinctions in the fire service profession. She holds a:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety

  • Master’s Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management

Leadership Roles & Service on Committees and Boards

Throughout her career, Tiffany has been an active leader in advancing the fire service on a local, regional, and national scale. Her contributions include serving as:

  • Vice Chair, Center for Public Safety Excellence – Commission on Professional Credentialing
  • Commission Chair, Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Commission to Advance Firefighting & EMS
  • Vice Chair, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Fire Chiefs Committee
  • Board Member, Congressional Fire Services Institute

Leadership Within the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department

Prior to her historic appointment as Fire Chief in 2020, Tiffany served as Chief Deputy, where she oversaw the Administrative Services Command. In this role, she led and managed:

  • Human Resources Office
  • Fiscal Affairs Office
  • Technology & Information Services
  • Health & Wellness Office
  • Accreditation Office

She also served as Director of the Training and Leadership Academy, along with numerous other leadership roles that prepared her for Command Staff service.

Innovative Programs & Department Improvements Under Her Leadership

During her tenure as Fire Chief, Tiffany spearheaded initiatives that strengthened health, wellness, training, and operational capacity throughout the County:

Advancing Health & Wellness

  • Opened the Fitness and Wellness Facility in Capitol Heights
  • Implemented the Comfort Canine Program to support the mental health of first responders

Investing in Community Outreach & Youth Engagement

  • Secured funding for Camp Embers, the Department’s first weekend-long camp for girls (launched in 2023)
  • Developed a Fellowship Program with Bowie State University, increasing volunteerism and providing housing support for students

Strengthening Infrastructure & Equipment

  • Oversaw the opening of Station 802 (Shady Glen) in 2022
  • Guided the renovation and modernization of multiple fire stations across Prince George’s County
  • Facilitated major upgrades to over 150 pieces of apparatus, enhancing operational readiness and safety

Transition to County Leadership

After retiring from the Fire/EMS Department in June 2025, Tiffany continued her commitment to public service. She was appointed Assistant Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Public Safety and Homeland Security for Prince George’s County—continuing her mission to strengthen emergency preparedness, community protection, and public safety infrastructure.
